Projects
We are constantly working on projects to promote and preserve the Lincoln Highway in California. This includes:
- Lincoln Highway signage and markers
- Add signs, “L” logos on the road, and other markers to make it easier for drivers to stay on the Lincoln Highway as it twists and turns throughout California. Also, maintain the signs and markers that already exist.
- Signage along Lake Slow Street in San Francisco
- Add interpretive Lincoln Highway signs along Lake Street in San Francisco, where the city plans to emphasize pedestrians and bicycles over motorized vehicles.
- Lincoln Highway in California book project
- Publish a book, originally written by the late Gary Kinst, on the history and development of the Lincoln Highway in California.
- 2023 Lincoln Highway Conference in California
- Host the annual Lincoln Highway Conference in 2023, centered around the city of Folsom.
- Local Lincoln Highway consuls
- Set up a system of local consuls to be in charge of monitoring sections of the Lincoln Highway. Duties would include being in charge of signing and letting the chapter know of anything that could affect the highway, such as construction projects. This is modeled after the consul system used by the original Lincoln Highway Association.
